Before you book

Eligibility of Renter

License

Persons who have held a full United Kingdom Drivers License for Less than 12 Months, or 24 Months for any driver under 25 years of age are not acceptable to hire.

Renters are acceptable at normal terms without referral subject to the following:-

  • Drivers 21 – 22 must be free from Endorsement.
  • Drivers 23 – 24 are acceptable only if they do not disclose more than one Minor Conviction within the last 5 years.
  • Drivers 25 – 69 are acceptable if, in the last 5 years, they have Minor Convictions which total 6 points or less.
  • Convictions classed as Major Convictions are unacceptable at all times.

Acceptable with additional £500 Excess and additional £250 deposit-

  • Speeding Disqualifications up to 6 months (within last 5 years)
  • Minor Convictions which total 7 to 9 points (within last 5 years).

Non-UK Licence Holders:-

Renters holding licences issued outside the UK are acceptable at our discretion, subject to such persons being aged over 25 years and having held a full licence for a minimum of 2 years. An additional £500 excess and an additional £250 deposit is to be applied in addition to any other terms imposed.

It is essential that we are able to understand the licence and obtain a copy of the international driving permit where appropriate.

Documents

All renters must provide their drivers license (Digital copies will not be accepted), a second form of identity such as a passport or signed credit card, and a proof of address dated within the last 3 months (this must match up to the address on your drivers license card)

Age Limitations

Persons under the age of 21 or over the age of 69 years of age are acceptable to hire with no need for referral (as long as they meet all other terms). Persons aged 70-72 will normally be accepted but must be referred for confirmation.

Cash Payment

Payment must be with some identifiable means such as credit card or debit card. It is not acceptable for customers hiring vehicles to pay with cash, except where a credit or debit card is used to guarantee a deposit or excess charge authorisation.

Previous Insurance History

Persons who have had a policy cancelled or a proposal declined or a renewal refused by an insurer are not acceptable to hire.

Use Of Vehicle

Cover excludes use for the carriage of passengers for hire or reward, or for racing, competitions, trials or rallies or hire for re-hire by the Renter.

Health

i) MEDICAL – if DVLA notified and full licence given then normal terms apply.

ii) DISABILITIES – normal terms provided a specially adapted vehicle is not required.

Accidents

Persons involved in 2 or more accidents in the preceding 3 years are not eligible to hire.

Persons involved in one accident in the preceding 3 years must be referred if the costs exceeded £5,000.

Occupation

Persons including agents and consultants involved in or connected with the following are not eligible to hire

  • Hawking or general dealers (e.g. market traders, merchants, second hand clothes dealers and the like)
  • Scrap merchants, vehicle dismantlers, or breakers.
  • Professional Gambling (other than as a clerical worker)
  • Professional Sport
  • Entertainment Professions (including part-time).
  • The armed forces of non-UK countries.
  • Students (other than for private cars).
  • Unemployed persons.
